Offer a choice

Try water in several quiet places, separate from food and litter. Keep bowls clean and refill with fresh water. Cats have individual preferences about bowl shapes and locations.

A fountain is optional

Some cats enjoy running water; others prefer an ordinary bowl. If using a fountain, follow its cleaning instructions and keep another water source available. Expensive equipment is not a requirement.

Notice changes

Record a new drinking pattern, together with changes in appetite or litter use, and speak with your vet. Do not assume an increased thirst is simply a new preference. Add a recurring cleaning task in your cat’s private dashboard to make bowl care part of the routine.
